The Test Weston

The Test Weston is run by me, Jess. I am a qualified teacher with over 15 years’ experience teaching and working with students aged 14-19. I have worked in international secondary schools, further education and alternative educational settings, teaching a range of subjects and levels.

I aim to provide individualised support, taking a holistic and nurturing approach for the learner to help them succeed. I understand everyone learns differently and I aim to create a positive learning environment where every student feels understood, supported, and is able to thrive.

How did it all start?

During the summer breaks, whilst at university, I started working with children and young people, in the UK and overseas. I was lucky enough to work in Cyprus, France, Egypt, Spain and the Dominican Republic, before I trained to be a teacher.

In 2012, I trained to be a teacher at Canterbury Christchurch University and completed my PGCE in 14-19 Education focusing on Leisure and Tourism. I secured my first teaching role as a Travel and Tourism Lecturer.

Over the years, I have worked with a variety of students, taught different subjects, adapted resources for different qualifications, progressed within my job roles and adapted to many educational settings.

This ranged from teaching Travel and Tourism, levels 2-5 in Further Education colleges, to teaching GCSE and A-level Business, in an International school in Qatar, to working as a Vocational Tutor within a prison and delivering private tailored tutoring sessions. I even taught English and maths in Fiji for a month!

I have been tutoring individual students and working with small groups, since 2021 and I find it extremely rewarding.

The message reads: 'When you enter this office, you are special, brave, unique, creative, amazing, important, respected, a friend, strong, patient, loved, smart, tough, kind. The board is bordered with colorful geometric paper, and there are red and yellow paper pinwheels attached to the corners.
